Find It in the Library: Using the Dewey Decimal System!

The information you need may be available on the internet, but before you start searching, check your Media Center's online library. These links to online resources have been arranged by Dewey Decimal Classification numbers, just like the books in our Media Center.  The Dewey Decimal System is a method of organizing books by grouping similar subjects into 10 main classes and assigning each a number. Each of the 10 main classes is then subdivided further. It's not always easy to pinpoint where to look just by the names of the 10 main divisions.

For a detailed list of subjects and their Dewey Decimal numbers, check out A Quick Guide from the Appleton Public Library.  If you really want to learn more about the Dewey Decimal System, check out "Do We Really Know Dewey?",
